I personally enjoy being a distance learner more than being in person. I work two jobs outside of being a full time student so I find it easier to complete my work on my own time given my current schedule. I also like the flexibility that I can complete my course work any where and at any time. I find this is more beneficial for me to leave room for emergencies or if one class has more work than others. When class is in person it become more rigid and provides a much less forgiving schedule.  An OER or open education resource, is a very convenient and helpful for educators. This type of resource is information that is available to everyone and can be manipulated or altered to best suit the individual using it. This is incredibly helpful for educators as a lot of information in the world requires rights or access to use, meaning it is restricted or not easily available. If a tool is open it is available to all without having specific access or permission.  https://www.erudit.org/en/jou

https://gochnauershistory.weebly.com/parent-resources.html Building a website was extremely difficult and one of the harder assignments we've had to date. This was something I have never done before so it was all uncharted territory for me. However I did learn some things though this assignment. My favorite skill I learned from building the website was the navigating the google calendar. This can be an extremely useful tool in the future and I look forward to using it in my personal and professional life. Diigo is a very useful website for sharing information with others in a similar community. For example as a potential teacher I could use Diigo to share information with fellow teachers and also obtain information for myself. I learned more about embedding links as well as using tags to make information easier to find and more accessible to others. This site was relatively easy to use and would be even easier with practice. Technology is one of the fastest growing industries in t

I visited Leon High School's website and found Sandra, Brinkman's class page. She had some encouraging announcements at the top and then laid out the assignments and tasks for the next week below. Her page was very easy to follow and well displayed. The tasks required were clear and easy to access for students to quickly get to and from. This is a great resource for parents as well if they need to monitor their child's homework or help them complete these assignments. If I had a page it would be very similar to this format for the easiest use from my students so they can focus on the assignments and not navigating my website.     Before this class I was not a very technologically savvy individual so I did not envision myself using a great deal of technology in my classroom. However, after reaching the half way point for this class I realize now the importance of technology in the classroom and how beneficial it can be to learning. I could see myself using 60% of m

My initial reaction to Diigo was feeling very overwhelmed. There is a lot of information on the initial page as well as when you first enter the group and it was a lot to take in all at once. After reading our assignment instructions and just navigating through the different links and pages, it became less overwhelming and it seems like a very useful tool. This is an easy to use website that allows people to share and find ideas easily based on key words and descriptions. It also has many different features that allow for a variety of ideas and sources to be shared. This would be a great forum for teachers to share their resources that have worked or have not worked for them in the past for other teachers or educators to refer to.      The blogging experience was not a completely foreign idea for me as it resembles discussion posts very closely in my opinion. We write about a topic or prompt and we post it for our classmates and teacher to see. It has created a more relaxed spac

The very first standard declares the use of multiple forms of media to decipher the meanings of different words based on an 11-12 th grade standard.  This can be done through different online platforms like thesauruses or dictionaries. The standard also mentions accomplishing this through printed materials as well but highlights the use of the internet or online sources. This was one of the standards that I do feel prepared for since I have done this through my entire education to this point. I frequently use these types of sources to write papers, discussion posts, and other assignments that have made me familiar with these types of sources. The tool I chose is a model eliciting activity that creates an open ended discussion about real life situations. The activity I chose presents ideas and conflicts surrounding diabetes and the risks and choices that go along with it. I chose this activity as I do not know much about this topic; let alone how to teach it to a class. This website

As a student I have heard in every class I have ever taken, the dangers and the dishonesty of plagiarism.  Plagiarism is using another person's work as your own without giving any credit.  This is unethical and discouraged for many reasons, but the main reason being someone else did the work therefore they get the credit. Someone else information or knowledge cannot be used verbatim without acknowledging them or giving credit in any circumstance but especially if something is copyrighted. To copy right something is to own the rights to that idea, concept, song, book, etc. If someone does attempt to use your copyrighted item without your permission it could end in legal action. This is in place because many people rely on their idea being the only one of its kind. Otherwise they would be competing for the same ideas and it would not be a fair market. However, fair use is a doctrine that allows people to use very limited copyrighted ideas without receiving permission from the o

I use Microsoft word for almost everything. This includes taking notes, organizing my thoughts, writing my Christmas lists, writing extensive essays, and many others things. It is a staple in my work and school life and I would say I use it almost every day. I prefer Microsoft word over anything else because it is the most universal and user friendly. If I do not know how to maneuver something, I can usually look it up on google and find the answer. Word is also the most consistent and does not frequently change, so I am much more comfortable with this application than any others.       The ITSE Standard for Educators that means the most to me is the very first one, the learner standard. This standard means educators are expected to always be open to developing techniques and ideas. This means learning from everyone and everything around you, students and colleagues. This constant learning is always in favor of their students. This is the most important standard to me because the
